Redcastle Family School

Year 2

We are Year Two

Here we are at the start of an exciting new school year. I hope that what you read here will be helpful. We work hard and try to have lots of fun in Year Two. Please talk to your child about what they have been doing at school and encourage them to share their feelings about school. They are learning to be independent and to enjoy new experiences in a school environment. This can be exhausting and challenging at times but also very exciting. Please talk to us if there is anything you’re not sure of.

Please read with your child every day at home and record this in the reading diary. This will be of huge benefit to them and hopefully an enjoyable thing to do.

Maths homework is one page of their maths workbook every week.

Topic homework is set in their pink workbook every other week.

We teach and encourage children to look after their belongings at school as part of the growing up process. This helps them become more independent and develop a responsible outlook.

The children have PE lessons on Tuesday and Thursday every week. We prefer them to keep their PE kit at school every day so as to be more flexible and find that this suits most families.

We are very lucky at RFS to have a group of kitchen staff who enjoy working with the children and offer regular cooking activities. These happen three times a term on Tuesdays and a separate timetable will be sent to you.
