Redcastle Family School

Early Years

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

We would like to welcome you all to Redcastle Family School

Due to health and safety restrictions remaining in place within school until September, we are unfortunately unable to welcome you in person and carry out our usual transition arrangements before the end of the Summer Term.

Therefore, we have created this website page with all the necessary information that we would have presented at our transition parents evening, as well as providing all the essential details regarding the alternative transition arrangements that we have put in place for after the Summer Holidays and when we return to school in September, which is when we expect to return to full-capacity. However,  we must stress that this is dependent on DfE guidance and whether it is safe to do so, which could mean our arrangements may change.

We are very much looking forward to meeting you in person and officially welcoming you to Redcastle Family School in the near future.

Welcome video

As you can't visit our school at the moment we wanted to make a video for you. We hope you can share this with your child to help with discussions about moving on to Reception.

Transition Parents Evening Presentation

Please find below our transition Powerpoint presentation 2020 where you can find out more about Reception class.

Transition Timetable

Below is the proposed transition timetable for September, which replicates similar arrangements to those that would have been put in place had transition occurred this Summer Term.

We want to ensure that children have a smooth and confident start to school. We hope that our proposed timetable allows children to ease their way into school, become familiar with their surroundings, get to know their teacher and teaching assistants in Reception, meet their new classmates, establish new routines and develop confidence at Redcastle Family School.

This transition period is especially important this year, considering that many children have been unable to attend Nursery since March and therefore, have been away from an educational setting for a considerable time, missing out on essential preparation for Primary School.

Transition Booklet

Miss Russell has provided a transition booklet to parents to complete before your child begins school to provide key information about your child.

You can download the booklet below and print it off to complete. If you are unable to print this booklet at home, please contact the school to arrange collection of a hard copy.

Please could you bring your completed booklets on the first day of school in September.

Please find below transition booklet below to download.

Tapestry is an online learning journey for children in Reception.

It enables parents to view work from school and find out how their child is doing. It also enables parents to share pictures, videos with school in order to inform our planning and assessments of children.

All the information is held securely. To access Tapestry, you will need to complete the registration and terms & conditions form. This will be given at the start of the school year. Then an email will then be sent to you with the login details
