Seeking the Maharajah at the Ancient House Museum in Thetford. 15th October 2021
Date: 16th Nov 2021 @ 8:47am
Hi, here are a few pictures of the Year 5 on their visit to The Ancient House Museum 15th November
Year 5 visit to the Ancient House Museum in Thetford.
We were greeted by an Anglo-Sikh Soldier and the Head Cook Agnes.
We learnt how to play 5 Stones...
It wasn't as easy as the children first thought...
After a while Mina proved to be the, '5 StoneChampion' catching 3 of her stones with amazing precision.
Well Done Mina
The children then tried their hand at preparing some chapatis an Indian type of bread.
Very quickly the tables, (and children) soon had a dusting of flour making sure their dough did not stick to their rolling mats!
But it was fun!
It wasn't long before we dusted ourselves down and we were ready to learn a little about the Sikhism.
The children had a go at cloth winding to make a turban that Sikhs wear. This prooved quite challenging!
In the kitchen Agnus was explaing about the jobs that people would have been doing in the big houses during the Victorian times.
The children were then able to handle and learn about some items that would have been seen and used by the workers.
Some items we still use today!
By the end of our visit we all got together to share our new understanding and learning.
Before we walked back to school we took a walk to The Duleep Singh Park on Butten Island to see his Statue.
Well Done Year 5 - A Great Trip!
