Year 1 2024 - 2025

Welcome to our Year One classpage 

We have been very busy this half term learning all about The Great Fire of London and The Gunpowder Plot in our history lessons. Next half term we will be exploring these topics further in our reading and writing lessons. It has been lovely working alongside parents to complete different art activities, especially these creations inspired by The Gunpowder Plot! The children love opportunities to share their learning with you. 

Reading at home

Children will be sent home with a new reading book on a Monday and Friday. Please ensure that you are listening to your child read at home every day. It is essential for their progress that they are sharing their reading books at home. 

Children will also be bringing home their RWI book on a Thursday. This must be returned by Monday so they can receive their new book. 

Things to note:

- Children will recieve a selection of homework activities at the start of each half term. These are tasks that are designied to be completed with adult help at home, so that you can join in with the childrens learning. When the children complete the activities they have selected, then they can bring their homework books into school to share all of their home learning with the class. :)

- PE is on Friday morning, so please ensure children are sent in with their PE uniform and appropriate clothing/footwear for the weather.
